Louise Hughes is one of four new delegates to IEU Council, following elections this year.
Hughes attended June Council as an observer and will begin her delegate’s role fully at the August meeting.
She’s been an IEU Rep for 11 years at St John’s College in Dubbo, where she teaches Catholic Studies.
Being told she wasn’t allowed to join the Union at all when she worked in the Wilcannia-Forbes Diocese was enough to fire Hughes up to become an activist.
She says her job is to keep everyone up to date and “give them the facts without hassling them”.
She’s looking forward to getting lots of new ideas from Council to take back to her members and meeting people from other regions to find out how they manage things.
