Working with Children Check

Renew now to avoid delays

There are delays in processing applications and renewals of the Working With Children Check (WWCC) as advised by the Office of the Children’s Guardian.

The process that formerly took days is in some cases now taking weeks or months.

Expiry of a WWCC results in immediate suspension of a teacher’s accreditation, until such time as the new due date is issued by the Office of the Children’s Guardian. A teacher may not work at a school during the suspension and is not entitled to any paid leave during that time.

A pending application for renewal is not sufficient. The process must be completed.

It is essential that NESA has the correct contact details for all teachers. The first notification should be emailed to a teacher three months before their WWCC due date.

We encourage all members to renew promptly to avoid any issues due to a delayed application/renewal process.
